He thought that to grow up he had to know his racial identity but through all the trouble and hard times he went through he learned that his race did not matter. It was his education that was the most important. Ruth attitude about her race effected James through his childhood and as a young adult, she negatively affected his racial development, and Ruth eventually clears up his questions that he has been dying to get answers from. Ruth McBride’s attitude toward her own race affected her son, James McBride, as both a child and as a young adult. Ruth mainly looked down on her race because of her father. All he care about was money and the store, he did not care about his own wife or family. He also molested Ruth when she was a young girl. When James was a young boy he always questioned her about race. He wanted to know if he was black or white and he also asked what color Jesus was. James mother would not completely answer his question. She responded saying that James was a human and education was all that mattered, and that Jesus was the color of water. When James was young, Ruth would answer any of her questions and that bothered him but he knew not to push her to her limit or he would get the belt. He does not know what half of his race is, he know he was black from his father but knew nothing about his mother’s race. Ruth was not ashamed to be a Jew, but she did not support Judaism because of her father, Tateh. She was not hiding the fact that she was a Jew from James but she did not want to think about everything that she ran away from when she left Suffolk, Virginia and her family, more importantly her mother, Hudis Shilksy. When James turns into the young adult he finds out that knowing your race does not help you in life like a good education does. The STI College Malolos Library has only one Librarian. There are 5,586 books with a wide array of topics/subjects. It houses two computer units as extension to research for users whose needs are not supplied within the location. As for the school librarian, the librarian has difficulties in computing charges generating reports, monitoring overdue and managing database. The proponents aim for the improvement and efficiency of the school’s library transactions. 1.2 Overview of the Current State of the Technology `Library System is an enterprise resource planning system for a library, used to track items owned, bills paid from patrons who have been lost the book or overdue book and patrons who have borrowed. 1.3 Project Rationale The library of STI College Malolos will benefit from the proposed computerized library system with Barcode Technology. There are many philological arguments for and against this notion of can one be the master of their destiny. The focus of this essay is to demonstrate how one can be the master of their destiny through a compatibilist point of view. It offers a point of view that states determinism is compatible with free will. Even though there are many arguments against this theory compatibilism offers people a alternative way of thinking, than that their life is already planned out for them out of their control. A compatibilist or also known as a soft determinist holds the belief that free will and determinism are evidently linked or are compatible with each other. Determinism states that every event is casually necessitated by antecedent events, that†¦show more content†¦Although our actions can be determined we can still be held responsible or accountable for our voluntary actions. Would it then not suggest that if we can be held responsible for our actions, deserving blame and punishment that we were not in control of our actions. An example of this is the London bombings, which took place in 2005 in London’s transport systems. Each suicide bomber freely chose to take their own life to cause the death and harm of others. They were in total control of their actions where they could have chosen not to go through with the bombing but chose to blow themselves up causing the death of others. As we are to be held accountable for our actions it shows that out actions are done freely even though we live in a deterministic world. This identifies that we can be the masters of our own destiny as free will is a condition of moral responsibility, and evidently compatible with determinism. Determinists believe that all events in one life are casually determined and that a person does not have control over these events. A compatibilist however believes our past or heredity and certain events are determined; however we still have the freedom of choice or action for the result of these events and our future. From this a compatibilist states even though a person, determined to be born with specific genes and features into a specific family, country, culture and religion we can still choose our future freely by how we act on these.
